The second night for battles for the 7th annual Miltown Beat Down, did not disappoint. We saw a wide variety of sounds, styles and battle techniques. It all made for a great night of competition.
GOODWILL [412] VS. AD4 WATTS [355]
Goodwill was a finalist in the 2011 Miltown Beat Down, and he’s proven to be a worthy adversary. WHile AD4 Watts had some cleaver beats, and pretty good scores in sonic quality, in the end Goodwill had a more dynamic set.
CAME ONE [452] VS. DREWCIFER [324]
New comer Came One, hit hard and fast against MTBD sophomore Drewcifer. Now, let the record show, that Drewcifer had a multi-input set up, but hit technical prowess fell short of Came One’s funky style and classic sample technique. We look forward to seeing what Came One brings to the semi-finals.
WHITE RUSSIAN [445] VS. BANNON [422]
Without a doubt, THE battle of the night. White Russian is a MTBD vet, with four previous battles on his resume. That experience helped more than a little, in this battle. Bannon (who was in last year’s battle as DJ Heavyweight) brought some rich and full sounds to the competitions. A little dubstep, some pop and club beats made for a dynamic round of battle. The crowd seemed to favor White Russian, but the judges were torn, and needed a bonus round “Beat Off”. White Russian, was prepared with a beat called “BEAT OFF”. Needless to say, this beat was DOPE! It put the nail in the coffin for Bannon.
JAMES JAXIN [395 VS. BROKEN BEATS [369]
Green Bay beat crew Broken Beats brought some fire to this stage with their selections, but James Jaxin proved to have a better understanding of how to present your beats in a battle arena. His builds and track selection, just made his presentation more exciting than the Broken Beat duo. In the end, James moves on to the semi finals at Moct, on September 7th.
