Milwaukee’s premier producer battle, the Miltown Beat Down, is now accepting submissions for the 2011 edition of the competition.
Started 6 years ago by Jordan “Madhatter” Lee, the MTBD has grown into a regionally respected event with last year’s winner Lex Luthor being awarded several prizes in addition to a slot in Red Bull’s national producer battle, Big Tune. The event was grown out of Lee’s desire to see more diversity and togetherness in Milwaukee’s hip-hop scene, a scene that historically has both ethnically and stylistically segregated.
Producers can now register for the 2011 Miltown Beat Down through the MTBD website – https://miltownbeatdown.com/registration/
Those who wish to register have from now until May 6th to do so, and 16 producers will be chosen for the battle. The 16 producers selected for the competition will be announced on May 9th.
This year’s Miltown Beat Down will consist of 4 preliminary battles, with 4 contestants in each battle and 2 contestants moving on to the finals from each preliminary battle.
The preliminary battles will take place on a series of Thursday’s at Jackalope Lounj/Wicked Hop on May 12th, 19th, 26th, and June 2nd. All of the battles at Jackalope are free to the public and 21+, and will feature DJ sets by Kid Cut Up.
The finals will be held at Turner Hall on June 10th, with tickets being $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
