Each and every year, the Miltown Beat Down has challenged producers to take a creative leap with us. We are well aware of that the beat battle is not unique to Milwaukee, but the MILTOWN BEAT DOWN is unique in the world of beat battles. In the past we’ve offered accapellas for our producers to remix, or samples to use to create a new beat. This year we are providing producers with the stems to a variety of new tracks. These songs span a wide range or genres, tempos and styles. The goal is to encourage producers to step out of their comfort zone, and create something new.
For this year’s MILTOWN BEAT DOWN STEM CHALLENGE, we ask producers to select one of the following tracks to re-work, remix and re-create.
J Cole “Workout”
Chester French “Black Girls”
Thelophius London “All Around The World”
Cypress Hill X Rusko “Lez Go”
Gorrilaz “Feel Good Inc.”
Producers may remix the entire song, sample parts from the melody, bass or rhythm tracks, or use vocals in a creative way. There is no wrong way to approach this challenge.
This year’s event will be held in two phases, preliminary battles and the Finals. The Preliminary battles will be held on select Thursday nights in August at the Jackalope Lounj, inside the Wicked Hop. The finals will be part of the YELLOW PHONE MUSIC CONFERENCE and will be held September 7th and 8th.
